Book Art Workshop with Flourish + Fern
Looking for a new eco-friendly creative hobby that incorporates your love of repurposing/upcycling?! Look no further and save things from the landfill while you learn how to create artistic masterpieces out of found objects. Students have the option to sign up for a single class or the three-part series. Time to put that old “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” mantra into action, and get in the creative flow while doing it!
In this workshop series, you'll utilize basic skills like cutting, gluing, inking, and painting to breathe new creative life into old texts. From selecting the perfect book to sourcing materials and preparing pages, this series will guide you through everything you need to know to get started with book altering.
Materials are provided, and students are also encouraged to bring an old book of your own or any photos /memorabilia you may like to incorporate in your project.
Learn how to:
⁃ Select books for altering
⁃ Prepare a page with gel medium
⁃ Add and remove pages
⁃ Create a blackout poem

Annual Community Art Show
The annual Community Art Show in the Bruce S. Kershner Art Gallery at Fairfield Public Library is a big deal! All artists from the Fairfield area are invited to submit works regardless of experience level, and over 60 of these pieces have been selected to represent at the show. The exhibit will run at the Main Library in Fairfield from February 11 to March 29, with a reception to welcome the artists on Thursday evening, February 15, from 5:30-7:30pm. The public is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. Free admission.
