The hunt is on!
We’re getting closer to “normal” than we have in a year, and yet, we’re still in limbo when it comes to recreation.
Get ready for the next wave of socially-distanced fun—a Fairfield-based Scavenger Hunt, the brainchild of Debbi O’Keefe, founder of ConnectFairfield, a new event and promotion business. The Scavenger Hunt combines trivia, photo, and video challenges that test people’s knowledge about local retailers, restaurants, landmarks, and history. The event is both a FUN-raiser for contestants and a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in honor of Fairfield’s Team Teddy.
How does it work? Sign up at www.connectfairfield.com. Registration is $30 per family. Debbi envisions families, groups of friends, and co-workers competing. “This is a perfect way to socialize in small groups and rediscover Fairfield after a year on hold. Challenges can be tackled at any time of day or night, which also allows contestants to tailor the Scavenger Hunt to their own schedules and comfort level.”
On March 15, a code for the free Eventzee App will be sent to ticket buyers, and the event will go live at 12 pm on St. Patrick’s Day, with the finish on March 31 at 12 pm. Each ticket buyer will also receive a Virtual Goody Bag packed with over 50 promotions and discounts, from favorite spots such as Olive My Stuff, Flipside, Village Bagels, Hands-on Pottery, and Candlewood Market. In addition, local restaurants such as Fairfield Social, Metro Kitchen, Craft 260, and Aurora’s will offer specials to contestants throughout the scavenger hunt.
Over $4,000 in prizes from dozens of local retailers, restaurants, and services, including Capri, The Gray Goose, and The Pantry, will be awarded to the team with the most points plus additional prizes for specific categories. Debbi’s goal with the prizes and goody bags is to drive customers back to the local businesses after a tough year.
The Scavenger Hunt is just one of ConnectFairfield’s projects. The new enterprise, whose tagline is “Connecting our Community,” was born out of a desire to bring residents, organizations, and businesses together through events and marketing, including the creation of The Fairfield Newcomer’s Club. Debbi’s depth of experience and local partnerships ensure that ConnectFairfield is soon to become an important local resource.
“Fairfield is a community rich in history and commerce. Both new and old institutions will be incorporated into the Scavenger Hunt, encouraging residents (and visitors!) to rediscover all the town has to offer!”
