The Go 2 Guys Get It Done!
28 year old Jamie Palazzo is well-known in Fairfield for his infectious smile and his fascination with technology. Some say he’s charming, others say he can be... bossy. He spent high school surrounded by his three closest girlfriends. He’s been the topic of more than one college application essay. Oh yeah, and he’s spent his life in a wheelchair, as a result of Cerebral Palsy.
These days, Jamie spends his days running The Go 2 Guys, a service providing a wide range of tasks. Jamie and Brett, his aide and ”partner-in-crime,” are constantly on the move, whether they’re making deliveries for Sea Salt Baking Co. and Woofgang and Co., or chauffeuring dogs to the groomer! In March, the team delivered over 70 swag boxes for the Discover Science Center’s virtual fundraiser. Tana Barnes, Director of Guest Services and Administration, was so thrilled with their work that she contracted them to distribute science kits to Bridgeport schools. “With Jamie and Brett, I feel confident that a job will be well done. They have helped us immensely during the pandemic.” Another longtime client, Gail Quinn, shares, “I’ve relied on the Go 2 Guys for everything from package and mail recovery to rodent removal and dump runs. They’ve never denied me an errand and they are always so happy to serve. Truly love those young men!”
The Go 2 Guys have many weekly and daily clients, but like to remain on-call for anyone who might need help. The truly dynamic duo have formed strong bonds within the local community, which includes programs for those with special needs, non-profit organizations, businesses and individuals. All services are free, but tips are welcome. “We are in this for the help we offer, not the money. We never want the expense of a tip to discourage someone from contacting us,” explains Brett.
This is not invented busy work for either Jamie or Brett. The two are often booked from 8am to 5pm and barely have time for a lunch break. While people close to Jamie agree he is compassionate, caring and loves listening, he is far from a wallflower! Jamie is famous for his incredible memory, often (loudly!) correcting Brett if he makes a wrong turn and takes pride in deftly handling The Go 2 Guys’ scheduling and online communication.
The Go 2 Guys have made a considerable impact on families such as the Baxters, who have two young adult boys with special needs. Their mom, Diane, says, “To be able to find meaningful employment is quite difficult when you have different abilities, but if you’re lucky enough to acquire a job, it can be even more challenging to arrange transportation to and from work. Jamie and Brett have made the impossible possible by driving my son, Jeffrey, home from work each afternoon, and by picking up his brother, Chris, from the programs he attends.I can’t express how appreciative we are for the Go 2 Guys and for the tremendous difference they’ve made in our lives.”
Jamie’s mom, Sarah, is thrilled with her son’s success with The Go 2 Guys. “When he graduated from Fairfield Ludlowe High School, I wanted him to do something that played to his strengths, instead of spending his days being passively entertained. He prefers to be a part of the action!”
In a time when the world seems to be plagued with challenges, it is a delight to see the joy Jamie Palazzo spreads each day!
