As you’re driving through town, and you see a beautiful home that catches your eye, have you ever thought of what it would be like to look inside? Well, approximately 113,000 people “look” inside one Fairfield home on a daily basis. The Seasoned Home! Meet Stephanie Kane, founder of The Seasoned Home! This exceptionally talented designer beautifies her home with love and joy and a whole lot of sparkle during each holiday season.
Stephanie started The Seasoned Home at a turning point in her life…she had been at home with her kids for 12 years. She was comfortable in her role at home as a mom, never having to do things that scared her. Then she decided she could challenge herself and do things outside of her comfort zone. So, she said yes to being PTA president, joined a boot camp gym, and decided to dip her toe back into the workforce, interior decorating. The Seasoned Home was named after Stephanie’s love of decorating for the holidays and seasons. Very quickly Stephanie’s business of decorating other people’s homes morphed into a full-time job decorating her own home and sharing it on Instagram.
Stephanie gets her inspiration from everywhere: magazines, pictures, rugs, pillows, stores, you name it! Sometimes she builds a whole room around a light fixture or a cabinet or a rug. This inspiration has led to many amazing collaborations: she worked with Wayfair on her dining room, Overstock for her daughter’s room, Raymour and Flannigan in her living room, and has an upcoming collaboration with Samsung.
One of Stephanie’s favorite projects was a recent one where she turned a closet into a powder room. She adorned the walls with exquisite Studio McGee wallpaper. Her husband, Adam, a.k.a. Mr. Seasoned Home, installed molding on the walls. She repurposed a table that was in her old bathroom into a vanity and put a vessel sink on top. Stephanie used brushed gold fixtures throughout the powder room. And when the toilet came with brushed nickel fixtures, she buffed and painted the fixtures to make them match with a brushed gold finish.
