Cannabis In The Bedroom: A Fun Boost for Intimate Moments

Anyone that knows Paola and I, knows that we love our plant medicine. Cannabis, when used properly and responsibly, can have so many benefits for so many different reasons.

So when we saw that Michele Vallee (Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Cannabis Provider with Advanced Tele Medicine ) and Jamelah Stone (LCSW Sexual Health Expert) were hosting a Zoom about Cannabis in the Bedroom we thought it would be something cool to cover and lots of fun!

Yeah, I know, twist my arm…

Ok so this is what we found out… It turns out that a little bit of weed might just spice up your sex life!

Research suggests that cannabis can act as a natural aphrodisiac, enhancing pleasure and intensifying sensations. In fact, studies have found that women who indulge before intimacy are over twice as likely to report satisfying orgasms, while men tend to enjoy better erections and overall sexual performance. Over 70% of participants even reported a noticeable increase in sexual desire and a more intense orgasmic experience. Think of cannabis as the ultimate volume knob for your senses—making touches feel electric, tastes richer, and the whole experience more vibrant.

Methods to Elevate the Experience

Cannabis comes in many forms, each offering its own unique benefits for a steamy night in:

  • Smoking: Offers a quick onset in less than three minutes with effects lasting 1–3 hours. Perfect for spontaneous moments.

  • Vaping: Much like smoking, vaping hits fast and provides a smooth, easy-to-control dose with minimal odor.

  • Edibles: Ideal if you’re planning ahead. They take 30–120 minutes to kick in and often boost tactile sensitivity, though dosing can be a bit unpredictable.

  • Tinctures: Deliver a consistent and predictable effect in 15–30 minutes and last 4–6 hours, making them a great choice for a planned rendezvous.

  • Cannabis-Infused Lubes: These are gaining popularity as they’re said to relax blood vessels and enhance sensation—although they likely won’t give you a head-high, they can certainly add an extra spark to your intimacy.

A Note Of Caution

While the idea of heightened senses—where colors are brighter, sounds more intense, and touch more profound—sounds amazing, it’s important not to overdo it with THC. Too much can lead to an overwhelming experience, sometimes even cause anxiety, that might detract from the intimacy you’re aiming for. As with many things, starting low and going slow is the best way to enjoy the benefits without the drawbacks.

Indica vs. Sativa: Pick Your Pleasure

When it comes to choosing between indica and sativa, it really boils down to personal preference. Indica might offer a more relaxed, laid-back vibe, while sativa could keep the energy and excitement levels high. Your ideal choice depends on the kind of experience you’re looking for.

In the end, whether you're a cannabis connoisseur or a curious newcomer, integrating cannabis into your intimate moments might just be the playful twist you need for a more engaging, sensory-rich encounter. Enjoy the journey, explore your options, and let nature amplify your pleasure!

To prepare, start by heating the MCT oil in the microwave until it is warm to the touch but not too hot—typically around 35-45 seconds. Using a glass measuring cup for this step can make the process easier. Next, gently warm your cannabis distillate or concentrate by either using a hairdryer for about 10 seconds or placing it in a sealed bag submerged in warm water. This helps with easier dispensing. Once warmed, add the distillate to the heated MCT oil and stir continuously with a fork until fully dissolved. After mixing, use a small funnel to transfer the liquid into a dark glass pump bottle, ensuring it is stored in a cool, dark place. Before each use, shake the bottle well and apply generously about 30 minutes before engaging in sexual activity.
