CBD at Franny’s

Why Franny’s Farmacy? Last Saturday was my first time visiting the modern day apothecary located in Westport, CT. When you arrive at the shop, Eugenia, Liz, or Kasey will immediately greet you. These young ladies know how to address your concerns and lead you down the right path to your search for what works in the world of CBD.

There is a lot of discussion on the topic of CBD so I will quickly outline the most essential points that you need to know as a consumer.  Hanging out at the shop was such a blast! There is so much product variety, and so much to learn. When you visit, please stop at two places: the bud bar and the refrigerator, making sure to pick up a cold drink as you make your way around the store. (My personal favorite drink is VYBES Hibiscus.) Okay, so back to our discussion on the four major points about CBD and shopping at Franny’s Farmacy.

1.    Cannibidiol (CBD) – is a phytocannabinoid that lacks the psychoactive effects of tetrahydrocannibinol. It comes from hemp rather than marijuana. We do know that CBD has broad therapeutic properties across a range of neuropsychiatric disorders. A review of literature identified that CBD can be tolerated at up to a dose of 1500mg/day.  It does not contain more than 0.3 percent THC – the substance that makes you “high.”

2.     Absorption – As you make your way through Franny’s Farmacy you can decide how you will consume this product.  CBD can be inhaled, absorbed through the skin or consumed in products such as honey or tea. A personal favorite that I recommend for women is the tincture. The recommendation is to start with a 250mg dose daily, that can be bumped up to twice daily if needed. Franny’s CBD tincture is absolutely amazing. I also recommend it for scalp use to help soothe against dryness and irritation.

3.     Benefits – Why would anyone recommend CBD? Here’s a quick explanation, it helps to reduce to stress and anxiety. In an article written in 2015 by The American Society of Experimental Neuro Therapeutics, CBD has considerable potential as treatment for anxiety. Long-term studies are still pending regarding chronic CBD use and dosing. Furthermore, since 2020 the global COVID pandemic has taken a toll on many of us regarding mental health and stress. CBD is considered a benign option to treat PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder and stress.

4.     Regulation – The industry of CBD is legal yet not regulated. Therefore, the standards and quality should be a concern. For consumers, asking for the COA (certificate of analysis) will help to address specifications on the quantity of cannabinoids. COA are meant to keep consumers safe and informed.

One of the reasons why I personally love Franny’s Farmacy is because it's seed to shelf. You know where the hemp is being grown and can actually visit the farm! Already on my favorite products list are Franny’s Tincture ($60) in Peppermint with 250mg BID. Having a de-stressing bath time routine is something I recommend to all women as well, so this is when Franny’s Bath Salts ($28) would be used, aiding in relaxation with 200mg of CBD. I absolutely love this product! It makes me feel like a queen with all the botanicals floating in the water ranging from lavender to chamomile! Next is Franny’s Antiaging Face Cream ($30) 50mg CBD, loaded with omega 3’s. This is essential to help prevent crows feet and other wrinkles at the core. And last but not least is Franny’s Healing Lotion ($50). Containing 600mg of CBD, a gentle application of this near your pulse points will help soothe sore joints.

Hope to see you at Franny's soon!
