WHAT IS YOUR LOVE LANGUAGE?

Do you know what your love language is?  Do you know your partner's love language? If you don't know, take a second and take the free quiz to find out. I linked it below!

Okay, now that you know your love language, and to review, this is how you prefer to be SHOWN love, not how you give love.  We want to give love to the receiving person in their love language.  For example, if your love language is receiving gifts and your spouse is acts of service, you want to show them, love, by providing service to them and they want to show you love by giving gifts.  Make sense?

But….have you ever thought about how to use your love language (the way you prefer to receive love) to show love to yourself?  This can be a valuable tool to get in touch with showing and appreciating self-love.

Here is what it looks like….

If your love language is….

Physical Touch: Focus on things that make your body feel good and the attention to your physical well being i.e. massages, soft blankets, exercise, long showers etc.

Acts of Service: Do things for yourself that will make your life easier, i.e. cleaning, organizing, scheduling, planning, therapy etc.

Receiving Gifts: Buy gifts for yourself and spend money on things that bring your joy, i.e. going out, mini vacations, craft supplies, clothes or makeup etc.

Quality Time: Spend time alone doing the things you love, i.e. mediation, reading, relaxing, going out alone, hobbies etc.

Words of Affirmation:
Give yourself pep talks and encouraging words, i.e. positive self-talk, daily affirmations or mantras, journaling etc.

We don’t need to rely on others to build us up and show us love. We have to learn to show ourselves love first.

So here is my challenge to you, should you choose to accept it.  Pick something to do for yourself that aligns with your love language within the next 7 days.  Email me at hello@jennifer-melville.com and let me know what it is! Sharing with someone else holds us accountable!

Are you up for the challenge?

If you don't know your love language, you can take the quiz HERE.
