This Food Can Help You Feel Calm + Settled
If you’re a mom, you know what it’s like to feel concerned about your kids. Regardless of their age. If something is going astray for them, with school, friends, academics, their emotions, you feel it. And, you’re willing to do whatever you can to fix things. To make things better so your kids can have an easier time.
I know this well. I’ve done the same for my sons.
And, I also know that when we want the best for our kids, we can start to feel worried for them.
Worried things might not work out.
Worried they’re not taking enough action.
Worried they won’t figure out how to make this better for themselves (so we better get involved)…
Worry, stress + fear are all emotions that arise when parenting.
It’s normal.
We want so much for our kids and we can’t control their choices.
That’s the clincher, we can’t control their choices.
And sometimes realizing things are out of our control is scary and only exacerbates our fear + worry.
Because of the chaos my family and I experienced for years, believe me when I say, we had heaps of it!!! I made it my mission to find effective techniques + strategies to shift my worry, stress and fear and help myself feel calm + at peace again. Even in the midst of chaos!
Anyhow, one of those mood shifting strategies I use, is to eat warm grounding foods.
Here’s why:
Warm, grounding food is a great way to settle your nervousness, anxiousness, worry or stress.
And, warm food + drinks help to settle your nervous system.
Grounding foods that grow in the earth or on the earth; like squash, potatoes, onions, all help to settle your body, shifting you out of feeling wobbly, upset + nervous.
Because these foods grow in the earth, they acquire a very grounding energy.
When you eat them, this energy is passed onto you, helping you to feel more settled.
So, next time you feel stressed, worried or anxious, make a hot cup of tea and a warm bowl of potatoes. Then sit quietly and eat them. Watch how your emotions start to settle and you begin to feel better.
Oh and BTW, skip the fried potatoes, too much oil can make you feel nervous + anxious again.
Good luck! You’ve got this!!
Here’s to feeling calm, relaxed and sincerely at peace even when the sh*t hits the fan in your house!! Wink, wink!!
